I agree I disagreeThe Ciliegia di Marostica cherry has been famous since time immemorial.
Tasty and beautiful, it is characterized by a very firm and sweet pulp, enclosed in the typical round shape with a gentle tip that makes it look like ... a small heart. It is the first fruit of the spring season, so precious and loved that it is also known as the "red gold" of Marostica.
Its excellent quality was awarded the recognition of the European PGI mark in 2001, a mark for the international protection and promotion of the Marostica cherry as well as the whole area where it is grown with so much passion and hard work.
By its very nature, cherry is a suitable fruit to prepare cereal- or meat-based dishes, jams, cakes and deserts, and liqueurs. Some of these simple and tasty recipes are typical of our local tradition.
Do not resist the temptation of our many cherry varieties: Sandre, Marostegane, Romane, Roane ... because, you know ... once you pop, you just can't stop!
The "Ciliegia di Marostica PGI" cherry is produced in a flat and hilly area where the soil is fertile and rich in potassium, which offers the product its typical sweetness and taste. The main varieties (cultivars) include: Sandra, Romana, Roana, Durone Rosso, Ferrovia, and the local Marostegana, which is pink, sweet and delicate. The production area extends from Marostica, in the west, to Breganze crossing Molvena, Mason, Pianezze, Salcedo, Schiavon and Fara Vicentino, in the east, up to the village of Angarano in Bassano del Grappa and down to Schiavon, south.
The Consortium for the Protection of the Ciliegia di Marostica PGI cherry is the point of reference not only for producers and marketers, but also for all those who wish to buy the precious "red gold" of Marostica directly from the local farms. Production is regulated by mandatory requirements that ensure environment-friendly cultivation. Pest control must be carried out in full compliance with the principles of integrated pest management or organic farming, and harvesting must be carried out exclusively by hand.
