I agree I disagreeThe Roman presence in Veneto is attested as early as 250 B.C., but it was in 172 B.C. that colonization began with the foundation of some settlements, including Bassano del Grappa, Cittadella and Padua.
It was in this period that the Romans built roads, bridges, embankments and canals, leading to the foundation of other cities: Vicenza, Verona, Oderzo, Conegliano, Altino, and Aquileia. Veneto therefore became an important region for communication routes with Northern Europe and the East. Padua, which is at the centre of this great road network, became the most important city, situated in a plain made fertile by numerous watercourses, a favourable climate and large wooded areas, where the Venetians had already spread the breeding of cattle, but above all of excellent horses and sheep with fine wool. It was precisely in order to transfer the cattle to the cooler mountain pastures during the hot summer months that the herd roads that connected Padua to the pre-alpine highlands were built. One of these roads led to Marostica, continuing through Crosara and Conco to the Plateau of the Magnifca Regency of the Seven Municipalities, i.e. Asiago. This road today is only passable in some parts, more specifically the Contrà Turkey - Contrà Cassoni - Crosara stretch.
