To live in Church of Saint Rocco
The existence of a chapel in Borgo Panica dedicated to San Rocco, built and run by the Fradaglia (Confraternity) of San Rocco, is documented since 1410. The Dominican fathers settled in this place at the beginning of the 16th century. They built the monastery and extended the chapel until it was eventually converted into a church with three naves. They built a bell tower that was the object of further interventions until it assumed its current and singular configuration of a bell tower erected on top the roof of the church. The two cloisters of the monastery are particularly interesting. The church contains seven altars: the altar front panels in scagliola by Natale Bianchini (1653-1729) are remarkable works of art. In 1770 the Venetian government suppressed the convent and the Dominican fathers left Marostica. On 11th May 1771 the hospital of Marostica was moved from the Convent of San Gottardo in via Beato Lorenzino to the premises of the Convent of San Rocco.
