To live in Church of San Giovanni evangelista e San Luca
A church is known to have existed in San Luca since 1297 that depended on the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Bishop Barozzi who visited it defined it "humble and small". He then gave the order to build a new one. The new church was completed in 1949. In those days San Luca had quite a few inhabitants and the economic conditions were miserable. In the following years the church was run by father Francesco Nichele, who favored it with a testamentary bequest in 1528. The bequest is assumed to have made it possible to purchase the Deposition from the Cross, an early painting by Jacopo Dal Ponte (1538). The Via Crucis (1980) by Gigi Carron from Marostica, made of fifteen ceramic panels covered with painted majolica, is another highly interesting piece of art.
